Cumberland Farms Sponsors Massachusetts-Wide Food Drive with 4H
(Framingham, MA – November 9, 2009) — Throughout November, Cumberland Farms is sponsoring a state-wide food drive led by Massachusetts 4H.
Beginning Sunday, November 1 consumers can drop off non-perishable food at any Cumberland Farms store in the Bay State. The goal is to collect 12,000 pounds of food to benefit local food pantries.
“At Cumberland Farms our mission is to give back to our communities,” said Mr. Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms Retail Division. “The rising hunger among families in our state is astounding and unacceptable. We are proud to sponsor the young people of 4H who are working hard to ease the burden of families in need.”
That need is great, and rising every day, according to Project Bread, the leading anti-hunger organization in Massachusetts. Their statistics show more than a half million state residents struggle to put food on the table. This month 4H members will retrieve donations from each Cumberland Farms store, and deliver it to local food banks in each county from Barnstable to Berkshire, Worcester to Plymouth. This is the second year the convenience store has supported the 4H Massachusetts food drive as part of the company’s Corporate Giving Program.
