CUMBERLAND FARMS NEWEST CONCEPT STORE COMES TO AMHERST AND NORTH AMHERST

Company Kicks Off Grand Opening with Community Wide Fundraiser to Benefit Amherst Regional High School

(Framingham, MA –October 23, 2009)  - Cumberland Farms today kicked off the grand opening of its newest convenience stores in Amherst and North Amherst, with a fundraiser to support the students at Amherst Regional High School.

Starting October 23 the company will donate 20 cents from every ChillZone beverage and cup of coffee sold at the two new stores, located at the 35 Belchertown Road, and 19 Montague Street, North Amherst store to the Amherst Regional High School Parent Center.  This fundraiser will help save 30 student activity clubs which are in jeopardy of continuing due to lack of funding, from Model UN, Dance Theatre Ensemble and the Community Service club, among others.  Cumberland Farms intends to raise at least $2,000 for the Parent Center, with the help of the community.

“Cumberland Farms’ fundraiser will help to ensure that our students will not miss out on the opportunity of participating in school enrichment activities,” said Principal Mark Jackson.  “We are pleased to have Cumberland Farms’ support as our school clubs are a vital importance which adds to the student’s experience at Amherst Regional High School.”

The new Cumberland Farms stores are located at 35 Belchertown Road, and 19 Montague Street.

“We are looking forward to making life a little bit easier for the residents of Amherst and North Amherst,” said Mr. Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms Retail Division. “This fundraiser is our way of saying thank you for the warm welcome the towns have given us.”

Visitors to the new Cumberland Farms will notice a change upon taking the first step through the front door.  From a wide variety of sandwiches that can be toasted on site, to thick chocolate milkshakes, flatbread breakfast sandwiches and even personal pepperoni pizzas, the new menu is squarely focused on fresh food, and is steeped in the company’s farm-family heritage. Customers can be their own baristas at the coffee bar, stocked with the delicious new Farmhouse Blend, or opt for a cold beverage at the trademark ChillZone.

The new model North Amherst and Amherst stores are part of the company’s multi-year, investment in the brand.
