A Town’s Turn at Bat: Cumberland Farms Raises Funds for Canterbury Athletic Association
May 14, 2012 –(Canterbury, CT – May 9, 2012) - The Canterbury Athletic Association is hoping for some improvements to its athletic fields and recreational programs with the help of a fundraiser sponsored by Cumberland Farms.
For four weeks beginning on Friday, May 11, Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage, iced tea, and coffee (iced or hot) purchased at its newly remodeled store at 2 Knollwood Drive in Canterbury toward recreational programs and updated dugouts for the town’s senior league field at Manship Park. The Canterbury Athletic Association coordinates recreational programs for community youth such as basketball, soccer and wrestling. Cumberland Farms aims to raise at least $1,000 for the youth association.
“The funds raised will help efforts such as the Senior League Field Renovation Project at Manship Park to provide our kids with secure updated dugouts, granting the league the ability to better host game events for our community,” said Canterbury Athletic Association President Jim Molkenthin. “We are thankful to Cumberland Farms for helping us maintain our grounds and work on recreational program improvements for Canterbury youth.”
“We are happy to be supporting the Canterbury Athletic Association, a great organization that is dedicated to providing children with activities and programs that promote community spirit,” said Ari Haseotes, President of the Cumberland Farms Retail Division. “Cumberland Farms understands the importance of athletic field improvements and the additional opportunities they bring to youth and the community at large.”
This past year, Cumberland Farms has donated more than $100,000 to support local organizations across the Northeast.
